The spider never listened to the foolish little fly,
So the fly was left unguided, and could never work out why.
The fly would thirst for wonder and the magic of the sky,
The spider couldn't join her, but would never tell her why.
She'd flit upon the river and in grassy verges lie,
He'd stay up in his fortress, though he'd never tell her why.
One day she tried to let him know that life can be much more,
She played upon the spider's web, so high above the floor.
And though she plainly stood before his many glassy eyes,
The good the fly would gladly do, he failed to see or prize.
Encased within the sticky web, the fly would like to ask
"What game is it I've come to play, and what's behind your mask?"
But spider never listened to the foolish little fly,
He ate that stupid little bitch and never told her why.
